HITECH Act
The HITECH Act of 2009 is an abbreviation for the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act. It includes provisions that promote the adoption of Health Information Technology on a larger scale. Its goal was to promote the utilization of electronic medial records (EMR), and technology to reduce costs for providers and improve quality of service for patients.
